I was originally going to do something with Nimoy!Spock. Just Spock. Because that's how I roll 99.99% of the time. But then, for no apparent reason, I ended up doing XI Spock/Uhura. *shrug*

This arrived this morning (of course I was at work and didn't get home until after 7pm... *grumble*):

I opted for the 2-disc DVD set - in its shiny steelbook case!1 - after looking longingly at the Blu-ray set and finally coming to the remarkable realisation that buying it would also require the purchase of a Blu-ray player.2
I think a movie night is in order.
1. Shiny steelbook case took approximately 3.76 seconds to get smeared in fingerprints and become unshiny.
2. This may actually happen at some point. In the future. When I stop spending all my money on DVDs.

Since this post essentially has no content it is completely spoiler-free! Guaranteed!
First off, and I'm serious here, I've never, ever attended a movie with so many stereotypically nerdy-looking people before1. But, anyway...
Ten-word-two-thirty-in-the-morning-summa ry:
Great movie, excellent cast. Action, drama, humour, angst. Wonderful experience.
I think I'd really like to see it again soon... but maybe at a more respectable time.
And now that I see 3am fast approaching, it's time for bed. *yawn*
If the information doesn't fall out of my brain while I'm asleep, I'll try to make a better post tomorrow. And to those of you who are about to see it, enjoy! I did. \o/
1. Having said that, there were NO Starfleet uniforms, pointy ears or Klingons in the audience.

Midnight screening. Wooooooooot.
My next post will have Actual Content™ (maybe even icons) - I promise!
In the meantime, the vid-spamming continues. Quinto, Cho and Pine on C4's Vodafone Select Live show. Links again, because I can't embed.
[1] An interview in which the guys get, um, close.
[2] An illogical, but entertaining, game show (of sorts).

Okay, I know this is getting kind of spammy now. My only excuse is that I've got caught up in the snowballing hysteria now that we're less than a month out from the movie's release. *shrug*
TV3 did an interview with Zachary Quinto and Chris Pine which you can see here. Watch it. It's funny. And 20 minutes long. Huzzah.
They also did one with John Cho and Karl Urban here. Also funny.
Hopefully, the videos should play outside of NZ. I heard that the TVNZ ones I linked to yesterday might not play overseas, so I edited the post with YouTube links.
I really need to make some Trek movie icons.

After the premiere in Sydney a couple of nights ago, the Trek cast have beamed down to Kiwiland to repeat the whole red carpet gig in Auckland (still too far away for me... *cries*). The local media are all over it because of Kiwi!McCoy... and probably because NZ doesn't get a lot of glitzy Hollywood-type events with Real Hollywood Stars™!
Here's a couple of interviews from TVNZ (links because I can't seem to embed them):
Karl Urban and John Cho on Breakfast
Watch it on YouTube
Karl Urban and Zachary Quinto on One News
Watch it on YouTube
What they haven't included in the second clip is the two newsreaders Vulcan-saluting back to the reporter interviewing Karl and Zach. A shame, really; it was kind of cute (I think Simon and Wendy are kind of cute anyway, but we don't need to go there).
EDIT: Added links to YouTube for anyone who can't see the videos on the TVNZ site.

So, about that new Star Trek movie they're bringing out next month...
I'm especially curious about the reactions of Pine, Quinto, et al. to the last sentence.

Because someone had to do it.
The scary thing is, once I matched the two pics for size, the nose, the lips, the hairline, everything lined up automatically. Although, Quinto has wider eyesand they still haven't quite tamed the Sybrows.
If I'd spent more than 5 minutes on it I might've tried to match the colours/contrast better... but a) I couldn't be bothered and b) I kinda like it. Oh, and c) when I did blend the faces a bit more it actually looked weirder.

I just posted another bunch of icons over at
lemonstudio. They're basically older icons I (hopefully) never got around to posting before.
41 icons of the usual suspects (Star Trek:TOS, Nimoy + other cast) and a few of the new baby Spock, Zachary Quinto.
